Session Information
Presentation Title:
Fair, rapid and complete scholarly communication through open source community solutions
Description:
Research outputs are published with a fraction of the original data, suffer from lack of collaboration, and are not created in ways that are easily networked or accessible. This limits the effectiveness of those research outputs, reduces reproducibility, and slows down the speed of scholarship. The Collaborative Knowledge Foundation (CKF) seeks to improve the integrity, openness and completeness of research output through the use of open source technologies and strong community engagement. CKF is building a set of open source components that can be assembled and configured to handle many different research communication needs. The modularity will offer solutions for innovative new collaborative open science output as well as improving the speed, transparency and reproducibility of more traditional journal and book publishing. CKF technology will enable digital first and web-enabled workflows, networked and linked research objects and opportunities for researchers to share and collaborate throughout.
