Dr. Birute Tumiene is a clinical geneticist by background; her major interests also include rare diseases. She is a co-leader of Pillar 3 in the European Joint Program on Rare Diseases, National Coordinator of Orphanet Lithuania, member of the Panel of Experts in the Rare2030: Foresight in rare disease policies, Lithuanian representative in the European Reference Network Board of Member States (ERN BoMS). In the ERN BoMS, she chairs WG on ERN integration into national systems and participates in the WG on ERN research. Besides, she is a Board member of the European Society of Human Genetics and Baltic Society of Inherited Metabolic Diseases.
