Abila Derrick Bary is a clinical cytologist with interest in disease prevention research and general laboratory practice.  

He is a co-founder of INFOCAS an mHealth startup in Uganda working to increase the utilization of cancer screening services in Uganda. INFOCAS is currently implementing a pilot in Kenya and Uganda.

He is implementing an mHealth solution, SMS MAAMA addressing the challenge of women presenting with late stages of complications of pregnancy in a suburb in Kampala, Uganda using text messages.

Derrick has also worked with rural communities around Uganda in community based education and research services organized by Makerere University during which he innovated solutions to health challenges.

Derrick was a fellow of the One Health Institute in 2016, a partnership between Makerere University, University of Minnesota and Tufts University. This program trains One Health Work force leaders in combating emerging pandemic threats and epidemics in Africa. Derrick has interest in application of mHealth in prevention and early detection of non-communicable diseases.
