I’ve 25 years experience in teaching, research, and practice of librarianship and information work. Currently I’m serving as Professor and Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Punjabi University, Patiala (India). I’ve been associated with ‘UNESCO-led Global Alliance for Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy’ as its Vice Chair since its inception in 2013. I’ve also been associated as International Advisory Panel Member of Open Access Indonesia, and Working Group Member of Open Access India. I have 50+ peer-reviewed publications (research papers, articles, book chapters, book reviews) in international and national journals, conference and seminar volumes, and books. I am/have been associated with editorial boards of a few peer-reviewed journals (Mousaion, KELPRO Bulletin); and conference volumes of Indian Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (IATLIS) conferences. Since 2011, I have also been serving as General Secretary of IATLIS. I have traveled across India (20+ states and territories), as well as abroad (France, Germany, Indonesia, Nepal, Nigeria, and South Korea) on professional assignments. I was awarded a Travel Fellowship by FORCE11 to participate in its 2017 Conference, Berlin. I’ve conducted many workshops and tutorials on media and information literacy (MIL), open access to scholarly information (OASI), and digital and virtual reference services (DVRS) at national and international forums in the last 10 years. Six researchers have completed their doctoral research work under my supervision, and six others are currently working. My areas of interest include MIL, OASI, ethical issues in information society, DVRS, and Indian language open access resources.
