Lara Mainville is Director of the University of Ottawa Press (UOP), the only fully bilingual university press in North America, the oldest of the Canadian francophone presses, and a dynamic hybrid open access press. Lara was elected Vice-President of the Association of Canadian University Presses (ACUP) in November 2016 after a term as Secretary-Treasurer; she was one of the ACUP delegates to the Canadian Scholarly Publishing Working Group. She is also the Association of University Presses’ (AUP) delegate to the Frankfurt Book Fair’s International Convention of University Presses Organizing Committee, a member of the AUP Professional Development Committee, and a member of the AUP Small Presses Committee. She was nominated to the Amherst College Pressadvisory board in April 2018. She is a member of the University of Ottawa and Library and Archives Canada Program Committee, and, for fun, serves on the University of Ottawa Choir board of directors. Prior to her nomination as UOP Director, she had co-founded and built a dynamic turnkey communications agency, Llama Communications, known for its work in support of arts and culture organizations as well as federal government think tanks. Additionally, she was an active board member of the Salon du livre de l’Outaouais for nearly 10 years, where she chaired the nominating committee and the marketing and publicity committee and also served as secretary-treasurer. Lara Mainville is a long-standing accredited translator at the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario.
The University of Ottawa Press is a member of the Association of Canadian University Presses, the American Association of University Presses, the Association nationale des editeurs du livre, the Association of Canadian Publishers, and the Regroupement des editeurs franco-canadiens.
