Biography

Dr. Radoslaw Rybkowski has been engaged in researching higher education systems since 2000, just after joining the Jagiellonian University as the faculty member. He authored two monographs, examining the development and present condition of the US higher education (Ziemia i pieniedzmi. Poczatki federalnej polityki wobec szkolnictwa wyzszego w Stanach Zjednoczonych Ameryki, Wydawnictwo UJ 2012 oraz Upadek stopni – stopnie upadku. Problemy amerykanskiego szkolnictwa wyzszego, Wydawnictwo WAM 2011; With land and money. The Emergence of the US federal higher education policy and Decline of degrees—degrees of decline. Issues in American higher education). He coauthored two reports of Polish higher education commissioned by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and by the National Center of Research and Development. Dr. Rybkowski conducted his research on North American higher education policy at various institutions, including: Department of Political Science, University of Rochester (2005, 2008); Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, New York University (2004, 2009), Faculty of Education, York University (2010, 2012). 2016-19 he was the member of Polish Accreditation Committee (national statutory agency responsible for higher education quality assurance). Since January 2020 he has been the coordinator of the Future University Lab, the project funded by Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education as a part of Excellence Initiative-Research University.  His field of expertise is the external governance of higher education, especially the impact of regulation on institutional autonomy.
