Dr. Taheri is an expert on materials chemistry, nanotechnology, polymers, complex materials synthesis, and plasma polymerization. She has worked in both industrial R&D and academic roles always with an emphasis on developing and commercializing new products and technologies for diversified areas ranging from automotive through biomedical to construction materials, both in Australia and overseas. Her work is focused on the development of approaches and methodologies to benefit people and the environment. She was awarded my PhD in October 2015 from the University of South Australia (UniSA) in Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering and completed a MSc in Organic Chemistry in 2006 and an MBA in strategic management in 2010. Dr. Taheri joined an ARC-Linkage project between MQ and Sydney Water on concrete corrosion in March 2017, and was working on developing methodologies to detect and monitor acid-attack corrosion on concrete sewer pipes. She was recently been awarded "MQRF 2018" and is currently working on the design, fabrication, and commercialization of "smart self-healing concrete" , "smart self-sensing concrete" and "corrosion-resistant concrete". She is an active member of Global Young Academy. Her life goal is to make differences in people’s life by adding quality and innovation to the day-to-day consumer products.
