I retired in 2009 after 42 years in the IT industry, principally with IBM and Lockheed-Martin. Most of my professional career was spent in Data and Database related development projects, including data management and data quality management activities and related standards and procedures. In January 2016, I became Vice President for Administration at the Washington Academy of Sciences. In addition I currently serve as a volunteer engineering and standards consultant with 3 organizations:
- I am a volunteer consultant and active participant in development of new Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) Recommendations and proposed ISO standards. Under ISO TC20/SC13 we are responsible for creating standards for Digital Repository Audit and Certification
- In a related (to TC20/SC13) effort, I serve as a member of the Primary Trustworthy Digital Repository Authorisation Body (PTAB). The PTAB has created a process framework to implement ISO 16363 (CCSDS Recommendation 652-0) Audit and certification of trustworthy digital repositories and currently conducts ISO 16363 engendered compliance reviews of Digital archives.
- I am also a member of the ONTOLOG Forum and a contributor and participant at the annual Ontology Summit.
